"The 7-year-old son of Justin Ryan Jones said his father was pretending to fire at his sister when the gun went off and he shot the 9-year-old girl, according to an arrest affidavit." ("Report: Father pretends to shoot daughter, gun goes off", Temple Daily Telegram, 02/22/2016)

At least there were some charges this time around, but it sure is a great thing we have all these firearms running around .... right?

Woman driving down the road in pickup truck with four year old son in back seat of cab apparently not even strapped into his booster seat. Four year old son finds .45 calibre handgun (ie. unsecured) and accidentally shoots mom (ie. unsecured handgun had round chambered).

How many ways did this negligent mother endanger her child? Thankfully the boy only seriously wonded mom as otherwise he would have had to live with killing her for the rest of his life. Once mom was shot it is very easy to envision any number of ways the truck could have wrecked that involve serious injury or death to the boy. And it seems that mom didn't have the decency to strap her son in!

Full story at "Woman tells Putnam County deputy that son, 4, shot her in back while she was driving" (The Florida Times Union, 03/08/2016) ... oh yeah, the police don't know if there are any criminal charges to be filed. Nice going locked and loaded mom. The only good thing is you son shot you and not some passerby.

A 7 year old boy who was shot in the head by a sibling handling their mom's loaded handgun while they and two other other children waited in the car. Mom and stepfather had gone into a Verizon store to pay a bill. An earlier version of this story read "According to a news release, four children had been left in a vehicle while their mother and step-father went inside a business to pay a bill. During that time, investigators discovered that one of the children found a loaded semi-automatic pistol inside their mother's purse. When the child tried to remove the magazine, the firearm discharged and struck the 7-year-old male victim." ("Crossville PD: 7-year-old dies after being accidentally shot by another child", WBIR, 01/25/2016)

According to the news story the Crossville police called the above a "tragic accident", but the truth is this was no accident at all - it was ciminal negligence at a bare minimum. Thanks to all the NRA fear inducers and the insistance that we all need to run around armed with firearms loaded and ready to go.

"A 40-year-old woman was critically injured Thursday when she was shot in the chest inside a Renton movie theater, police said." ("Woman critically injured in Renton theater shooting", KOMO, 01/21/2016)

'"Preliminary accounts indicate that an intoxicated suspect entered one of the theaters and was fumbling with a handgun he had in his possession when it went off, striking another patron seated in front of him," Renton Police said in a statement.'

So of course we need the NRA fear induced all guns all the time to keep us safe from things such as theater shooting massacres. Once again a criminal shooting that will be viewed through the lens of an accident. Very sad.

"A Cincinnati father shot and killed his 14-year-old son when police said he mistook the teen for an intruder." ("Ohio father fatally shoots suspected intruder who turned out to be his teen son", Washington Post, 01/12/2016)

Son heads off to school, decides to skip school, returns home, father shoots son with deliberately loaded handgun that was deliberately carried by father, and father deliberately pointed this same gun at son and deliberately pulled the trigger. Simple. No accident. Just another case of NRA induced fear based home protection.
